Gustav leaves tornadoes and rain, Hanna, Ike and Josephine head westward

THE “YEAR OF THE TORNADO” 2008, MAY HAVE TO BE CALLED THE “YEAR OF THE HURRICANES”, AS WELL, ONLY THAT LAST ONE HAS SOME FORMIDABLE COMPETITION.

UPDATE 3:00pm EDT Sept. 4 2008

GUSTAV’S REMAINS SOAKING ILLINOIS TODAY. Ike has become a 140mph Cat 4, down from 145. Ike is now expected to head more towards where Hanna is going–East Coast. Josephine may end up out to mid Atlantic. Seems there is a lot of uncertainty over shear issues and steering currents.

UPDATE 6PM EDT SEPT 3 2008

HURRICANE IKE IS UP TO 80MPH. TS Hanna is making the turn to northwest, expected to possibly enter the US in the Carolina’s. However Hanna has a history to overcome of wandering wherever various steering currents compete for attention. 20 killed by Hanna to date. May become a hurricane before landfall. Expert information below.

Tornado warning in New Orleans area.

A tornado spotted by the public has been reported.

Other Doppler indicated tornadoes are in tornado watch box from Louisiana into Mississippi.

Gustav is a little northwest of Shreveport LA, with tornado watch to the east. Some tornado warnings occurring at this post time; 2:10pm CDT Sept 2 2008

Hanna is currently a tropical storm, as is Ike and Josephine. Hanna still expected to impact the east coast later this week, possibly as a hurricane.
