WHAT A TIME I LIVE IN–the crack in Liberty’s Bell widens…

Imagine, fellow USA citizens; we consider ourselves civilizations top dog. Not only that. We have the worlds most awesome arsenal of destructive merchandise, presumably, to do something with. Now think of our democracy’s election choices, brought to us by how this supposedly superior system works. We are in deep do-do.  We have the ability to cause near total devastation, yet we elect what amounts to jugglers and clowns.  Why?

What is our check on this superior system that claims freedom, democracy and individual rights? It is supposed to be guaranteed by the mechanism of fair election’s. Well, there is nothing fair about who has the money and connections to get the most favorable publicity. Even more fundamental than that bias; we do not have a right to vote, just a conditional privilege.

The American electoral concept was established in times of slow motion government and communication, and probably, like the Electoral College, a way for status quo privilege to change things if the outcome was not acceptable. It is decidedly anachronistic and seemingly obsolete in these days of near instant information, yet there is no plan to fix anything about our now old vulnerabilities as a democracy. One party, in particular, always tries to reduce voter turnout overall. Imagine the concept of fair elections, then the conflict of interest apparent in that one motivation.

The independent press was assumed to be the information control circuit that would check abuse of governmental power and loss of individual rights, thus protecting our national heritage. We no longer have an impartial press that is essentially required to provide the truthful facts on the varying issues of the day. We have a kind of tabloid journalism, and with it, a tabloid paradigm regarding elections. I wonder how that happened? Once again; the founders could not imagine how vulnerable individual citizens would become in a corporation run world. Events now suggest it is long past time for a course correction.

Corporations were said to be eyed with suspicion by the founding fathers. They had no idea how the corporate model would come to rule business, and it, most functions of society. Society has been folded into an adjunct to corporate interest, with the public living from the hand of business. The electorate is placed into this rights conflict of interest, with one side holding most all the advantage. This has increased the pressures to render democracy even more conditional and superfluous to corporate interest.

A revolving door has come to exist between defense industries and the corporate world, that seems to have changed the very nature of the initiating American paradigm; to now be one of the insider privileged class of the military/industrial/congressional complex itself, deciding what are the vital national interest of our nation. From their perspective, those are no longer the individuals rights nor freedom, in the expansive responsibility context of that concept. We have all let democracy and freedom descend into abstract slogan’s, while those words mostly represent the will and entitlements of big business interest far above those of you and I.

The race for the presidency is now a worldwide comedy show of pretense and misleading advertisements designed to poison the waters of objective decision making on the part of we the conditional voters. The evolving subservient citizenry, also has a fraud based “culture war” designed to distract and bother the public over emotionalized issues presented in an us vs them paradigm, where compromise and other arrangements of true democratic order are held hostage to all or nothing mentalities. Those philosophical “absolutes” are themselves cast by each ones attachment identity, into good or evil opposition. There is an attempt to permanently divide the various aspects of a pluralistic culture into perceptions of good and evil, winners and losers, or the holy and unholy.

The full and critical interest of the citizenry in determining how and why government does what it does in democracy is being fractured for a reason; not to accept or understand differing opinion and lifestyle, leading to achieving an agreeable understanding. This suggest a neofascist like phenomenon designed to assault nuanced and complex perspectives that include relative ambiguities, and conditional uncertainties. Instead; ad hominem driven certainty is alluded to as strength, with simplistic false dichotomies based on “wedge issue” tagged value difference in the population. This apparent conflict is picked up in the media as the actual debate over the issues. The public, not realizing that overall, most Americans have similar values on many subjects when allowed to reflect in depth on them.

It has come to be that this in depth analysis is prevented by the all or nothing, us against them mindsets being promulgated throughout the population. All these diversions thrown into the public sphere of perception has served to render democracy into the silly side show we see today. We actually have an election where parties get to make up things about their opponents and those allegations are unchecked unless someone notices. Then, regardless of the damage caused by misinformation, they have the question of access to correcting perception which has fallen to corporate self centered interest which feels no imperative to fairness in the true sense of that word.

Lies get repeated over and over, while no one has to tell the truth. This absurdity to the concept of just and fair elections in democracy, is deemed part of politics, a politics that now serves to hide issues as well as truth from public awareness. With this right to lie being cast into the concept of fair, as in all is fair in love and war, the nation loses to deception here and deception there, election to election, that cumulative damage resulting in the great national insult to America now foisted upon us at the election time circus.

The nation is headed towards becoming more like North Korea, as unbelievable as that may seem, because no institution will stand tall enough to prevent it. Recent experiential details in America suggest that no  one in the executive or legislative branch, has a chance to get over these status quo power hurtles. Those with power will keep their power and decision making over the public, unfettered by the now becoming anachronistic institutions, such as voting and ones right to work, health and happiness.

Dick Cheney once ridiculed North Korea for its nighttime darkness, literally as if they were a nation living in the dark ages, which satellite photo’s evidenced. He called it a shame and whatnot. Yet before long, as many are already, we are beginning to turn our lights off, to reduce trips in the car, not to mention cut back on other essentials. Perhaps a benefit to the environment will ensue as we go off the grid, one by one.

The current American/transnational royalty, feel no dept to the rest of us who work and toil, to maintain their own lifestyle. They do not care if you have food, if you have health insurance, or if you can even afford to have a roof over your head, or have the fee to travel to work. The are for reducing all government proactive assistance, preferring that money to go into their own pockets as soon as possible. I imagine North Korea, at least has some of those assistance programs.

America; the new Imperial Pharaohs have arrived. The fix on you is on. The circus called fair elections are a many faceted ruse. I wonder how many of us are even aware what a time we live in, or the slave state beginning to establish a permanent beach head, not in North Korea, but right here? As it happens in the world, corporatism emerges from democracies, if allowed, as well as one party states. With the manner in which the constitution was relegated to the dust bin with enough fear to subvert its implementation, you no longer have any guarantees, period. You never know when your last chance to vote will come. You do not.

If you are voting by the tricks of the trade issues being deemed “the issues”, and they do not include keeping democracy intact, along with the rights of the individual above those of the corporate world, if that is not more on your mind than your pet issue, or “value voters” and other wedge issue smoke and mirror diversions of your rights, you are being played masterfully. Controlling behavior by manipulating passions are classic authoritarian machinations. While the American experiment is rendered into just another failed imperialist enterprise, are you actually turning your back on America just as much as this administration has? Unfortunately for some, they will be filled with pride and righteousness while they in effect turn on themselves and the rest of us.  An abstract form of modern world cannibalism?

As to the corporate world domination self worshiping ego megalomaniacs out there; world domination is mandated to fall, as is imperialism or any attempt to dominate the world. The world is and always will be One. Attempts to divide truth itself up and posses it is a delusion, that always falls in time.

Save democracy while we assume there is a chance. The next chance may not come along for another millennium, one never knows, oblivion mat proceed the opportunity for freedom to ring once again. People would have to relearn to all care for one another, and insist that life is lived as if we were all in this together; as we actually are!

What a time we live in.  What time is it?
