THE END OF TIME

WILL SCIENCE SAVE US?

WILL RELIGION SAVE US?

WILL THEY BOTH; DO US IN?

Humankind is in trouble. This is unmistakable.

Oddly, both science and religion have been playing parts in overpopulation and invention unattached to long term consequences. It is as if we form our own abstract bubble to live in, where cognitively dissonant information is reflected away, while what aids our bubbles integrity, passes in as if a prayer has been answered through the double sided membrane. All amputated from outer consequences issuing from our fantasy’s and apparent mandates to get and have what we want.

In the USA we often think, with some good reason, that much of the world envies us, and wants to have what we have. If that were true; with 5% of the worlds population yet 25% or more of its resource use, ah, we’d all be dead soon.

THE CANCER PHILOSOPHY OF GROWTH, GROWTH AND UNENDING GROWTH, RUNS INTO THE ABILITY OF A PLANETS BODY TO MAINTAIN ITS LIVING SYSTEMS. COMING SOON TO THE LIVES NEAR YOU OR YOUR OFFSPRING.

Wars to get oil and resources, become suicide missions on a grand scale, yet the ability of humans to deny realities, or allege them unproven, greases the slope to oblivion. It turns out we mostly would rather not think of our impact as long as today seems kinda like yesterday. Hey, after all; what can one person do!  The problem is too big!  Wow!  I wish I had that new car!  Sexy!

The environmental and world responsibilities of each individual also seems very resistant to change, when the programming has been to enjoy the good life and or show your mate, family and neighbors your status as a happening go getter.

As materialism meets its comeuppance, it is we who must change our own values and expectations of life. Individualism itself, will have to face cooperative or collaborative associations for basic survival. We will need to define what the planet can sacrifice to our presence and still exist in some semblance of balance.

If we chose to ignore realities of resource and energy use and not adapt accordingly, probably cockroaches will some day evolve into a more intelligent sensible species than ourselves.

(They say if we all replace on incandescent bulb with a florescent, it equals 800,000 cars off the roads!)
