What you gonna do

with your one,

six billion, seven hundred millionth piece of humanity?

Gonna change the world?

Gonna make a difference?

Gonna have lots of kids?

You are supposed to

family is looking at you

to increase its self defined

importance

increase the odds by

decreasing all’s share?

What you gonna do?

Avoid the question?

.

Get a million to read your post?

Tweet a million tweets

in a lifetime

in your

1/6700000000th

and falling share?

.

You’re always one

like every other one.

What you do

has the same impact

as any other one

but exist

in a multiplied context.

To be conscious

means you must balance

the difference.

.

What I do

if compounded by you

becomes a sum

of all doings

easier

and much more dumb

to ignore the math

the truth

the charge

upon each one

and every one.

.

But ignorance will not

add to the answer

it will enhance the question

unconsciousness magnified

until the earth

and we of earth

face the demands

of Life

and what was done

by each

and everyone.

Where do expectation and responsibility meet?

There will be the answer.

Our Garbage Dump: Is Earth’s Cancer in Human Minds?

That human opportunity amidst finite environments produces a fatal consequence is beyond doubt. This truth about human impact on other humans and the earth is attaining global consequence. For some, this consequence will be denied to continue expansionist mindsets irregardless of fact and reality.

How are good ideas and mass achievement somehow becoming deadly?

It might be called “the good life”, or “making it”, but it seems about fantasy fulfillment and not about the whole of reality. Taking grand opportunity is seen as a gift to be realized, a dream to be fulfilled. Modern humanity is encouraged to go for both; be all one can be, and be proud of the magnitude of ones achievements. This paradigm, however, is often divorced from the effects of human behavior upon finite ecosystems and effects upon others. It is then detached from reality, yet often approached as if it represents self realization itself; ones own holy grail.

Delusional thinking, thoughts unattached to actual consequence in the real world, is widely perceived as a good if there are major short term benefits to those doing the opportunistic thinking. This formula for self inebriation is driving humankind into a wall. That wall is also known as the truth. Truth must be diverted from consciousness. These negative larger impacts are to be diminished and denied for ones own benefit. This sets up desire for rationalizations which will condemn the questions, while praising the ego for its opportunism; the material world coming to represent ones proof of attainment as a human being, while others wishing they had what you have, validation of your success.

Opportunist, particularly in business, have proved ready to deny scientific evidence of poisons being emitted into the environment by their doings. From pollution of the waters, pollution of the air, pollution of all kinds. If you can make money and people want what you have, that is apparently the extent of your duty to the Whole of Life.

The Opportunist Challenge

It is understandable that those who rationalize exploitation of environments unattached to real world consequence, will be welcomed by the eager opportunist to assuage cognitive dissonance and other senses of wrongdoing. From think tanks to infiltrating religious institution, self validation will be highly desirable to disable democracy and send it down wedge issue dead ends. Yes. Democracy implies a whole commons for citizen influence as a collective. Democracy is a threat to holding polluters, opportunist, and other violators of The Commons of Life, accountable. It becomes a good for some to render Democracy superfluous. Nothing like emotionalized issues to grab attention from more sterile scientific thought.

Opportunist then need generate legions of “believers” in a kind of anti-science, or pseudo-scientific rationalization. That industry is cranking mind pollution out by the day and night. Those enticed into denying scientific evidence, will seek out other evidence, but it will not be based on a rational logic dialectic. It will go overboard, where it will be taken on faith, along with some debunking (the science is all wrong) rational. A fact based objective oriented approach to defining reality will be seen as a negative, even an evil influence, for it seems to threaten unbridled fantasy from being extended from the ego into The Commons, so denial to the context life exist in becomes necessary for self delusion to maintain its noose around perceptions neck. Once rationality is blinded, the self can be lead most anywhere on trust and faith, no matter how misplaced objectively. God and nation will become fair game in this diversion of attention.

-Balance, pollution, success, crisis, opportunity, achievement, blowback, self realization, excuse, accountability, responsibility, exploitation, survival, saving the earth from fatal abuse, God vs science. All these things plus many more are in the mix. Unless humankind gets real instead of being seduced by opportunist looking for their own small world kingdoms, we risk Life on earth as we have known it. Human attempts at unaccountability have become the earths nemesis as material growth has become worshiped as an only answer.

We treat earth as a garbage dump because we deny our connections of choice to larger consequence.

Have a sunset from today. Thanks to One Earth.

Home Works–Planet Green + Steve Thomas

I saw Steve Thomas on Planet Green last evening. Planet Green is a cable/ satellite channel, 286 on Direct TV.

Steve was once the host of PBS’s “This Old House”, which is claimed to be the first big home improvement hit. Now there are many networks devoting much screen time to home improvement reality type shows.

Now I was a fan of This Old House, but not so much of Steve Thomas. In my construction days I had a run in with Steve which I will tell you about shortly. Anyway. I always thought of Steve Thomas as a kind of boastful character that was a bit full of himself. As host of the PBS show, he seemed to prance around and, more or less, seeming as the type to avoid doing much actual work. He just felt like one of those guys who showed they could talk up a subject, but not have the real hands on experience. This is a subjective impression based on character assessment type casting. Most of us have this kind of unconscious prejudice operating–first impressions and all. Generally, it is good to reassess such assessments.

The time he came to our job site, it seemed it was because the producers wanted him to at least give us a courtesy call. We were nearly two months into a major renovation and expansion when This Old House came to town. They wanted to track an improvement through the whole process, so we were not what they would cover at that point. He said they would have been interested if that job was going to be just starting.

Anyway. That day he came by, he announces on arrival that he had not slept much and was in a hurry, so we would not be doing any introductions and all that. So he went on to see the companies owner and made no contact with any of the rest of us, including no eye contact.

Well I did not care one way or the other. There are no media personality or movie stars I personally would go out of my way to meet. I did the work I was there to do. But many of the guys would come by and tell me what a jerk or whatever they thought he was. I thought he was who he is, behaving like I would expect. No disappointment to me. I frankly think it would have been quite an embarrassment to see the company I worked for, on display with its compulsive gambling owner. Perhaps the construction drama express would have arrived a decade sooner. Who knows.

But what of Steve Thomas Today? You may wonder?

He is great on his Renovation Nation show on Planet Green. He gets into the construction mix, and doesn’t mind complaining in a kind self effacing sort of way. His promotional energy is well spent on forwarding the construction technologies and innovations needed to conserve resources and help the environment out. His humor is allowed to come out and play more, which makes his presentation and character more interesting and dynamic. I like the guy who replaced him on This Old House, but Steve Thomas seems right in his element on Planet Green with his Renovation Nation experience.

So cheers to a job well done Steve!

Good to see you again.

Obama and McCain get you what?

Though 68 percent of the population is said to now be against the war in Iraq, that about 80% once seemed to support, we must wonder what does go on in the minds of our compatriots. Why? Less than one in five of us knew what was being pulled over the public eye’s from day one.

Whatever that something is, or lack of something, if cable news is the judge, that something is going on again, in the population. Hypothetically, both candidates are said to be statistically even at the start of July. The question is; what statistics actually work and seem relevant for that massive bulk of the population that seems to be shopper citizens. They appear to be buying what is on the media’s shelves. Are they really comparing the positions of the two candidates to decide who to pick? How naive can we be? Can our democracy now withstand this shopping syndrome?

Do you actually not know what party dragged us into this economic and terror mess with all their pomp, jingoist patriotism, crony capitalism, intimidation of dissent and macho posturing? How about who took the solar collectors down? Do you still remember who was attempting to create a one party state from K Street to a rubber stamp judiciary ? How about who suppresses information and opinion contrary to its own? Those things are antithetical to democracy, and the values of freedom and liberty. Is it really a debate? Do we not know which party the country actually fares better with? Or are we just shopper citizens who do not know or question why what is on the shelves is there instead of something else?

Are we really born blank headed every minute, then pointed with our cart down the aisle? “Hum? I’m not decided yet. I’m going to be responsible and compare where both guys stand on the issues.” But what exactly are the real issues? Taxes? Abortion? Experience? Vision? How your particular job or economic interest seems to benefit? If it is this same old aisle full of baloney, no wonder less and less gets done, while the nation loses more and more. Except for that elite few of course. They know how to play the system each and every way to keep ahead. To them, that is what counts, not you. It might be smart, not just to read the ingredients on the can to know what is in there, but what is the can made of and might it not also influence the nutrition?

“Oh my word! That is just asking too much!” Really? How will one know if one does not investigate the whole context, and not just the prepared meal? Unfortunately on this question, it is democracy and freedom that depends on that investigation. Unless they no longer have any real meaning that is, other than another popularity contest designed to bypass this deeper attention.

THE TOO LATE PERSPECTIVE

That huge pondering group of decided this way, and that way the next day, that vast majority who changes their minds well after the facts are in, are in a curious and easily manipulated position which they are apparently oblivious to. They are at the mercy of double talk and Orwellian opposite speak. Are they proud of being, not just fallen off the turnip truck, but reborn every moment into a disconnected world view, where facts and reality are too burdensome to accommodate, so anyone’s propaganda barrage (or else inconvenient truths) suddenly has them rethink their prior unthought out position? ” Wait! Now I believe in global warming.” or “Oh! I’m not voting for him. I heard he’s a Muslim.”

If you are shopping and comparing to decide, God help us. For you certainly are not.

The us against them mindset is fundamentally conservative based. That said; if you are in a conservative elite or under its spell, you can claim that openness or even justice towards other ideas, is a bias against you! This is the contrapuntal check mate regurgitated in the media over and over to make stagnation of societal progress and subjective bias seem “fair”. As a society and culture, we seem confused and rendered impotent over and over, by this existential relativity claimed to be fair and balanced.

YOU MUST BE THE JUDGE

If we cannot tell human interest, the interest of humanity and this planet, from divide and conquer mentalities, we will not be able to know when the self interest of the apparent subjective (a seeming positive) is actually a negative. There are ample characters on the right and media who are served by conflict originating from the right, to “existentialize” any argument by blurring subjective and more objective truths.

Subjective truth can believe it holds the true perspective in context, and so sees facts rightly, when in fact, it does not allow objective questioning and may well not detect its intrinsic ideological bias. Ever wonder why this administration tries to purge its own party, and then America, from its truth serving dissenting voices? Control context and so the debate, thus undermining democracy.

If everyone is told the earth is flat, and only given the “experts” that agree with that premise, a status quo can go on to call the real round truth heresy, and those who speak it, heretics to be ostracised or worse. This is the power of ad-hominem pollution of reason. The corporate stranglehold on a free media has alternative perspective and solutions to problems cast into this same light. That 70% who go along with “authority” in times of stress can be “pick pocketed” like taking the proverbial candy from a baby.

ALWAYS DIVIDE AND DOMINATE

Separation based ideologies need enemies (in concept) to organize their subjective prejudice into a seemingly correct world view. But if you cannot question politics, if you cannot question religion, if you cannot question authority, if you cannot question belief in the midst of known difference and diversity, you run a very high risk of living in a lie. Diverting consciousness form knowing higher truth is the ends of censorship and external control of the free will. Division and demonization are the hallmarks, not of righteousness, but of deception.

Whole political platforms are formed to service cognitive dissonance. Their intent is to keep certain perceptions and community ideals bound to service to subjective goals of domination and control. We are witnessing a time in human development where the commons of being human, and the commons of being alive in this world of all life, is in jeopardy to predatory interest, interested in their own benefit above all else and others. If we do not know this and are otherwise absorbed in the “debates” over “issues”, we may well sacrifice the forest, to believe we are saving the trees.

One dichotomy may well be true; you are for this whole world and willing to care for and steward it, or you are against it. The victory of those against the commons, will be the defeat of us all. Some things are black and white.

ART AND SCIENCE OF CONTROL

SCIENCE or ART or MORE?

At yesterdays family violence meeting with a family, we talked about health.

Health is a big topic that can go into differing directions and dimensions, but we had questions made. Why am I not taking care of myself in some area? Do I worry about my health and so, emotionally or subconsciously, open a door for a dysfunction? I know I should eat less, or not smoke, or get into more exercise, yet procrastination is in charge. Why? A few of us, for proposed economic reasons, or avoidance, avoid trying to find out what is going on. We wait to see if things get worse as a kind of control on what problem we are noticing.

In this group meeting we all set goals for the next one. After coming up with a desire to act on our own behalf, we set our sights on some realistic movement to be made by next meeting. Your word in made with yourself to get something good done in your life.

That will be all for that review of yesterdays event. I do wonder about all the rest of us; about politics, elections, society, the environment, our effects in the world on one another. Do I avoid looking honestly at them? Do I even want to know and be then possibly worried? What avoidance is there of issues that are of paramount importance to each of or lives, and yet we cover them over with a rug?

I believe politics, religion, the alleged cultural wars promoting ignorance and contempt for knowing something different and respecting it for that Golden Rule, I believe these things do have us hiding from knowing our effects on others, thus promoting their lack of respect for us. In conflict settings, we have learned to wall off our sense of empathy, compassion, full truth seeking and so understanding, because we may be told we are self defeating to entertain, enlightenment!

Many an ego stakes its credentials on not changing no matter what it faces. This may be a strength, or a recipe for complete stupidity. Arrogance, or “macho” displays are meant to be life saving in an odd way, yet they might just as well guarantee that that vulnerability one had to know something of oneself or another, is armored in, and a stunt person is now in charge of my life.

We are hearing in politics now both sides of the insecurity coin shown at once causing a kind of meltdown in-between. Is someone caring or strong? In front of one group they show the one, and in front of the other the other one, why can they not be real in all context, instead of chameleon like color changes designed to suit an audience? Now we seem to be trying to avoid these seeming perhaps contradictions of candidates by the marketing effect to make them just seem to look like the type on our side, without getting too specific about those worries we might have.

With the world in some ways at the mercy of our votes, (if counted) that might impact future well being as well as conflict for the entire planet, we need look more closely at those who would cut a one year old’s birthday cake with the swing of a four foot sword, not noticing the shock and awe in the room of the world.

What to look for?

First, unadulterated honesty, a consistency, not in claims and stances, but in steps to take to get from problem to solution. If candidates do not show respect, and I mean honest recognition and not just a grouping of words, they are not going to be elected to lead (or focus) the whole nation, they will be in it to promote the unacknowledged dysfunction addictions of their base, leaving the rest of us, not entirely innocent bystanders to an ever deteriorating state of the nation and planet.
