Tea Party And Conservatives Continue

The Surrender Of  “We The People” To

Much of the talk About the Constitution and conservatism as its guardian, is steeped in Confirmation Bias.  Many political analyst share this ideological twist of fact: They Know Not What They Know They Are Biased To, but that stops no one from proclaiming what is in their imaginations as fact (over fiction).

Conservatives, or pseudo-conservatives, also reference “We The People” as essentially anti government, so all about Freedom and Rights.  “Don’t Tread On Me”, being given by many in the Tea Party as a Libertarian right, yet that right is not held to universal context.  Most always it is dropped into the don’t mess with me bucket, which is filled with appeals to greed, plus opportunism and denial of effect to larger causes such as society or the environment.  My fantasy right over real sustainable Unalienable Rights.  Such mental abstraction play is classic to modern conservative framing and reframing of concept and context strategies.

Follow The Law!

Much of this supposedly pro-constitution pabulum being declared these days, is boiled to purity in a denial of the realities of connection and relation. Conservatism, however, is gaged and bound to not include and honest objective attempt at understanding the real influences opperating outside of their confirmation biased idea base.

I can see the appeal if I were constantly scheming opportunist, such as those often behaving on Wall Street, or otherwise a slave to an identity encapsulated in more and more money as self definition.  Why then it is easy to be seduced by the subjective challenge, and ignore ones collective self; get what you can any way you can get away with.  Me and my family becomes scripted as what my life is all about.

The human family, plus the Whole World Context, including suffering, exploitation, pollution and all the consequence of materializms degradation of society and the ecosystems? Why that is a thing to rationalize away as to why me and mine come above it.

And that is where opportunism and much conservatism have made their wedding vows.  In the economic sense, this is called anarchy capitalism. Their honeymoon is in convincing the rest of us that their vows are actually our cherished ones to Freedom and Liberty.  Conservative Christianity seems to be reversing the role of Jesus Christ as well, and the mission he undertook for those disadvantaged by situation. Each life has a constant pathway to Union or to separation.

The life of Christ has seemingly disappeared; Now, for a seemingly increasing number, the disadvantaged are scorned and declared to be losers being punished by God.  The empathetic and compassionate Christ is gone, except for the few self-saved entitled by their own definitions.

This is the same old dominator ideology sweeping conservatism down histories long failure drain.  We do not actually succeed at being gods over one another, for the effort makes one a spiritual loser. Humanity has the same needs and requirements, no matter wherever we are.  Ignoring the full impact of our actions for a select few that conceive them as a self possessed advantage given by the Divine, is the road to spiritual ruin.  Learn from mistakes? For all too many; mistakes are their bread and butter.

Sure  Everybody Says Move Or Look Forward These Days

The Arc of Advancement in history is brought out by Liberalism; the open way of honesty and path to enlightened understanding. This is not that “understanding” born of the dysfunctional psychological denial of the Law of Interrelationship on One Earth.  We work together to achieve understanding, or we work against one another to achieve division, then manipulation by power elites finishes, or wedges We off, We The People then, with no relevant right to vote.

Unfortunately for all of us, many a man will not face the cause of their motivations, but instead run on their ambition and feeling of direction.  Not much time for self inspection, but lot of diversionary interest, like sports for many, keep minds and hearts busy at other things.

The We In We

As it turns out; “We The People” do need our own protection from individual “private” attempts to control our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.  Just a glance at a profound intrusion, such as the Great Oil Spill In The Gulf of 2010, acts as a traumatic example of how so called Private Enterprise can impact the environment and society via economic disaster to private citizens.

Other control of the public mind; mind control, has become fact, yet some well paid politicians and lobbyist have gone on to “think” less regulation is the answer.  The reverse reality of ideological purity.  With information as our source of knowledge of events in the world; just a handful of corporations control the vast majority of our news sources.

The Real Story

We The People require institutions empowered by us with governing oversight, through our chosen representatives, or else we surrender our right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  These presumed Unalienable Rights are only guaranteed by our collective will, and not that of international corporate conglomerates.  Yet these very outside and top down interest are exactly what the “conservative” Supreme Court has surrendered for We The People.

Down With Big Government!!!

May Well Mean

Up With Corporate And Or Religious Doctrinaire Government With No Right To Vote! Hurray!!!

Corporations have more rights than individuals; you donate to anything from your pocket and you “fell the pain”, corporations donate and then socialize the loss onto We The People via price hikes.  You don’t have the right to socialize your loses by hiring your wage or income, unless that is, you create laws that protect your rights to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

As it is set up; the wealthy and powerful socialize their lifestyles upon the general population and resources of the Whole Planet.  We and It All picks up their pieces for them,–if we can afford too that is.  This is a fact of physics and natural law.

.

It seems an anathema to common sense, how conservatism can declare itself for our less and less cherished rights, being redefined away by them as they shout out from podium far and wide. I saw one conservative anti national health care politician with a sign saying; ‘Protect  Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness‘.

Example: Without National Health Care you have no right to Life, and so the rest.  Not really, as some 40,000 a year lost American souls could attest.  “Your money or your life” might be what a murderous mugger could ask you to chose, but it should not be the choice of a Free Society.  Not one with Inalienable Rights that is!

It is quite as if some have been seduced away from the broad and informed consciousness that Freedom and Liberty require to be held rightly. Now we see pandering to special power interest being called ours, then decrying the other “wasteful” sides special interest.  Differing to existential relativism is an easy Thought-terminating Cliché that hopes to fall into a Consensus Reality propped up by Appearance Reality charades.

In the abstract, conservative propaganda, streaming through the medias continuously, sells out the overall right for a select private practice dependent upon cash.  It is now pay as you go to get these rights or else you do not have them, and do not deserve them.  Unalienable Nothing.

The People

A revolution was fought by We The People, and a Civil War, to move this One Nation forward as One People governed by One Law and attending States laws.  We face a new and seemingly invisible tyranny; invisible from everpresence, like ones nose; the idea that the unaccountable individual can claim what they wish and care not of anyone else as long as they think a certain way, the corporate/business/bottom-line mindset way.  That is not Freedom.  It is anarchy.

Anarchy may be a kind of ultimate goal of humanity, but we have found that until we are all consciously aware of interconnection and interrelationship to All Things, we literally will not know how to act to deserve an unbridled and unabashed Right to Liberty. Untill such an auspicious occasion, we must know how to compromise for the wellbeing of all and not just me.

I Am Pro Simplicity

Honoring ignorance or honoring wisdom, a simple choice one may think, but in practice, they say Americans judge in the moment how the economy is doing for them.  This is the momentary trap of the self situation that ignores context, which many seem to never get their foot of citizenship out of.

Billionaires For Wealthcare Video

Seemingly in response to Fox News and Freedom Works apparent intention to have your health regulated by corporate bottom lines above your own life lines, this group, Billionaires For Wealthcare, presents what the invisible elephant in the health-care room cannot see.  What?  The 9-12 diverted frustration tagged onto those not actually causing their ills.

We need a public option to diagnose the mental illness seeming to possess the Republican Party.  That, or at least Palin’s witch-doctors exorcism routines done daily.  Then maybe 2 aspirin…An apple…

Right Wing Sophistry; Ambush at MSNBC

Well

Lawrence O’Donnell, sitting in for Chris Matthews on Hardball, (which I do not normally watch), let loose onto some US Representative he was interviewing; Rep. John Culberson (R) of the Appropriations CMTE.  Apparently, this Representative thought tough questions should not be asked. You know, as in the manner it is done on liberals on Fox news.

The Rep. did the usual diversionary tactics; going his own way instead of answering questions.  He went on to paint it in conceptually; that unfair to me way the right does if you do not completely agree with them.  Hello.  It’s an interview where you answer questions and not just spout your own plans as the answer.  Seems we are used to softball politics when questioned.

O’Donnell was seemingly perturbed at this guy;  you know, like they do on Fox News to libs.  It seems the host wanted to cut to the chase on all this government is bad and evil in health care that the right is fueling their blowtorches with.  Mr. O’Donnell wanted to know if Rep. Culberson would stand up against the socialist(*) programs of Medicaid and Social Security.  It seems the Rep, although hedging the concepts, would have said yes to them back in the day.

But today, as far as being interviewed?  A new kind of don’t ask so I don’t need to tell. The Reps sense of being abused seemed as tough he was insisting on the way he likes to “answer” questions.  Kinda; Why don’t you like and respect me cause I’m smiling, and just ask me what I want you to?  You’re so unfair!  And again; ‘You don’t know me, so how dare you call me a liar!’

The host was wanting a direct answer on this socialism issue; where this Rep is allegedly–as in agreeing with the anti government health care reform; all about it being all bad, then claiming to be actually for socialism where it is popular.  Seems something is wrong with such ideological dualism as if fuels confusion and propaganda campaigns to induct the naive.

(I have a new respect for Fox news and the grilling of interviewed liberals; without mutual respectful dialogue, certain demands need be expressed to get something like an honest answer.  Otherwise it seems; avoid, avoid, divert attention from questions.  Am I really saying this!  Hurray Fox News!)

-

Back to this interview I witnessed a half hour ago:

A yes or no was being asked; are you for socialism’s usages as now long manifest in the USA, or against it?  The Rep. went back to his explanations of not quite knowing the history.  But he thought that in the Great Depression some people needed help, seems his father did.  It was not perfectly clear if he thought other people may need help if they are elderly or whatever today?

But then Rep. Culberson did the ad-hominen stuff, kinda like the woman at a health care meeting whom he called his new hero, which had just been played on tape to him on Hardball.  The Rep. accused the MSNBC host of being unfair, of not knowing him, ‘This is why MSNBC is so pathetic and not liked’ as I paraphrased the Rep. again.  Good argument?  Liberals mad=bad, so called apolitical folks saying reforming health care=socialism=good.  So OK to be mad.

It is amazing, how whenever one seems to turn these guys own tables on them, (town hall  attacks dialogue supresing information exchange in the name of free speach), it degenerates to mobish name calling and personality failure “characteristics”.  Why?  Why do the facts on the table disappear and ‘The trouble with you people’ become the focus of consciousness?

Once this was called sophistry, using substitutes for truth in context in argument as if these devises were still legitimate.  In the liberal context our society presumably still exist in, where free speech is allowed, community standards of respect are thrown out and allegedly trumped by propaganda dialectics being directed by right wing media sources.  How quickly some of these so called conservatives become the opposite of what they were just a year or so ago. After all, we do fall for a good bias leading argument, even where many a fact or connecting concept may be intentionally withheld, if it feels good to our ideas proofiness. I am touching it a bit here myself, by using personality and attitude in places as if they were actual fact.  Right wing radio, about 90% of political talk radio, uses this inherent manipulation gimmick/trick most all the time.

And that is the trouble with faith mixed into politics; it ( ones beliefs) seemingly beg to be told what and how one wishes to hear. This moves us out of the present moments relationship context, Its fullness, and overlays ideological lenses as the means of “seeing clearly”.  Some folks know how to turn our ignorance into social, political and economic capital.

Wow!  Now I see so clearly!  It all makes sense!

One can lead and manipulate in darkness by pretending to be the light.  To represent the unabashed truth in context favors no one per say; for It leads us.  Not the kind of insight manipulators nor predators would wish to see, nor have we see.  So divert attention and blame.  Hiding the darkness (ignorance and confusion) with attitude and illusion.

That is how you succeed at getting seniors to be against any government run medicine, when they are on Social Security and or worried if their Medicare is going to be effected by changes.

The power of sophistry? Allows ignorance and confusion to be used against oneself while not knowing it.  To some this represents a kind of winning, of getting their way.  When manipulation succeeds, it is seductive to some.   But when called on it—unfair to me!

But Mr. Rep, the show is called Hardball.  There is perhaps a hint there?

{My take on much of the ideological conflict below}

-

* Note

On the right, many words, like socialism, tax, government, etc. are used as Thought-terminating clichés.  Hearing some of these folks speaking up at the town hall meetings is often an exercise in a conglomerated list of fears, suspicion and innuendos put out by the right wing propaganda machinery. It is the words tag frame that is directing the question being professed, like “death panels” or “government bureaucrats between you and your doctor”.  Do you really think there are “death panels”? or that there already are not corporate bureaucrats standing between you and your doctor?

It is about using ignorance as political and other capital.

As for “socialism”, most modern societies are highly “socialized”.  We spread many cost across society, socializing them.  We can even say that corporations socialize their cost across society.  They raise prices just as government raises tax, only in government, we presumably have some say. Most societies always were socializing cost one way or another.  human being and the world are all connected, deny it as one wishes to be foolish.  If there is a fire on the hill, liberals and conservatives expect the firefighters to try to put out the fire.  How different is illness and disease? Of no interest to us all?

This is socialism; the cost socialized to society, just like the military, the police.  If I live in a desert, do I then demand my tax money back for firefighting that I do not need?  What kind of people do that? How about; I might never leave the house, so I don’t want to pay for air and water pollution that I am not causing, being it is not just and fair to me? But what do some corporations (funding much right wing media) now do? Tell us how pollution controls by government mandate will make them raise the price on us, so this equals government bad, for government wants to increase your cost of living.  Government detached from yur real life concerns. How typically callus that government is.  Trick delivered.

Most argument on the right is actually differed to selfishness and self centeredness vs those “others”.  Those others, society, whomever, wants to take from you and give to someone else.  This is then perceived as a kind of theft, while ideals of responsibility to common interest, or to consequence of individual actions upon the whole, are erased from the radar.  Usually these intrinsic connections of consequence are replaced with platitudes of individualism’s nobility and honor.  Except, of course!, when corporate or individual behavior gets us in trouble in the world, and with that worlds competing interest.  Suddenly we are to be for protecting our country and way of life together; socialized.  We differ again, to those with money above the average person, yet claim that average person shares the exact interest of the wealthy.  The reverse does not apply!  How convenient to whom?

This is how our common interest regarding The Commons–the connectivity of Life, is manipulated to have us shoot ourselves in the foot for our alleged best interest, usually construed as saving money. Just as the government does not then give you a bill for the helicopter and air dropped fire retardant to save your families home, society would degenerate into infinite islands of the individual versus the world, then having to pay directly for any use for all this to be perceived as exactly “fair”.  This, if we follow this philosophy of self merit to its honest and principled conclusion.

We have common interest as a nation or world, or we think we do not.  For the right wing’s reactionary list for word/concepts cliché diversions, nuance and ambiguity are enemies to “clear” thinking.  This kind of conceptual divide and conquer can let ideology pick apart any common good and reduce it to rubble, if opportunist can get the access to public ignorance and convince us we know. Since money does have more access to free speech, it has a more than equal opportunity to direct attention.  This is what can lead to Democracies downfall.

Enter right wing alienation propaganda, driven by think tank proved wedge on The Commons issue manipulation.  The Pros. know language can convolve most any concept to become the opposite of what it is. Ignore The Commons; ignore global warming, ignore that the cost will be socialized later and likely at much greater cost than prevention. Ignore, bury, then divert attention to buzz word bagged and tagged conceptual lead weights.

Overall, the modern conservative movement seems driven by manipulators with personal interest to gain at the expense of the whole, yet claiming It as their cause.  They would rather have it be; “Your money or your life”, as the operational paradigm, enslaving society to opportunist driven schemes.  And what kind of culture is that? We will hear it proudly proclaimed that this is actually how America and the modern world has succeeded at so much. Behind the chants of “socialist” and, not an American, and all this other baloney; it is the kind of nation the right will deliver if allowed to; corporatism, with theocratic overtones to direct followers spiritual concerns to those that support authoritarian structures.  And all while ranting and railing against just those creations.

I suggest that the modern world has a major accounting being delivered by our environments.  I would suggest that we do things; not because of “you money or your life”, but because we love life, want to live, and do what it seems we must to exist.  This can succeed, and succeed much more fully, being motivated by Love, instead of driven by fear, for that latter falls victim to ignorance, while thinking it is truth.

The subjugation of human interest to commercial interest has rendered much of the worlds population into a population, not only fiddling as Rome (the planet) “burns”, but worried over where the fiddle string replacements will be coming from.  I am not arguing for blind trust of government.  As long as opportunism is a threat to common understanding, in democracies, even the will of the people can be diverted and subverted.  But in a democracy; if you hate government, you by inference, hate all the rest of us, for we are the government by vote.  Back in the day, some conservatives would tell the protesters of the 60′s and 70′s; ‘America, love it or leave it.’  I guess that proclamation was highly conditional.

The Bigger Issue (You know; the deepest one most of us avoid like the plague for as long as possible.)

Unconditional love, on the other hand, is self proved, requiring nothing of ignorance.  It is where true faith in Life can reside, becoming a threat to darkness; those that would use ignorance as capital.  Love is thus spiritual, in the full sense of that word, permeating existence with light, yet visible only to those with open eyes to see.  An open heart is a requirement for eyes to see greater truth and union, otherwise pain can divert attention, attention that can be lost, and so, misdirected.

We each have the spiritual challenge to be in this Love, agents of this Love, or I will likely be an agent of something other.

Palin’s View on Proposed Health Care a Contradiction?

The Degeneration of the Health Care Debate

Attention is the question, when it comes to words and ideas.  This is always true for politicians, bloggers or anyone: My interest are described in what I chose to look at.  Why do I focus on what I do? Why do I find this focus important for filling up my life?

In politics and religion, even in advice, this point of view intrudes for its good reason.  Politics and religion, especially, argue for a point of view for truth and truthfulness.  They seem to ask for analysis due to their claims, yet often seem to reject criticism.  This may indicate that you or I or whomever, wants to tell but not to hear.

Politics and religion both seem to take this; I will tell you but you just be quiet unless you agree, frame of mind.  It is a one way street on a conceptual highway that could be said to flow in many other directions.  Getting folks to go your way does seem to be safer from the subjective point of view, but this does not predict truthfulness or honesty of heart.

-

I say all this stuff, not just because I tend to be long-winded in setting my context, but to suggest how I or someone can say something that sounds good, but is dubious in its reality.  Here is where I will put Sarah Palin’s recent comment, I should put Keith Olbermann’s comment on hers in it as well, for he corrected her comment with a point of view that too was curious in its confident proclamation of reality.

-

Palin made these comments:

“The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care,”

“Such a system is downright evil,”

Keith Olbermann responded to this with:

“There is no ‘death panel.’ There is no judgment based on societal productivity. There is no worthiness test. But there is downright evil, and Ms. Palin, you just served its cause,”

-

Really Keith?  Really Sarah?

-

Mr Olbermann went on to describe how we Americans would not tolerate a system based on worthiness or having death panels.

Really?

It seems that the art of making points can lose the reality of situations that we Americans face every day.  What is this reality?  Heck, I’ll use myself as a example; If I cannot afford to have my childhood tooth issues addressed, I am not worthy of having them addressed.  What part of worthiness does insurance, income and health care not understand?

Apparently, the nose on the individuals and the nations face is not seen for the positioning of good ideas to entice fool-able followers.  Insurance companies are routinely denying the worthiness of the insureds health issues.  Money is the sole factor for me determining if I am “worthy” of a procedure.  People lose there homes in addressing the worthiness of their or their children’s, or their parents worthiness to have a procedure, or face the possible death panel of not the right amount of cash on the health care table.

-

Oh its semantics; we do not put fee’s in the ideological category as constituting actual worthiness.  Um?  How realistic is such an assessment?  For we Americans are daily making just such assessments of what to sacrifice to be worthy for addressing our health care concerns. While some people thinking they are all safe and secure with their coverage do not actually know what worthiness issues they will find when they get their worthiness dissected.

As for senior citizen issues; I am currently involved with seniors who, though relatively well-off, are having a nightmare in having their issues even diagnosed without many month delays in getting appointments. These for what are quite possibly life threatening issues; like a leg giving way while walking normally for one, and new dramatic nerve dysfunction in another, and a first heart attack in yet another.  Weeks and months waiting to be diagnosed, and then someone has to keep up on the situation just to put the pieces together of what is to be done next.

Not in their America?

Not in the America they knew?

It seems they may not be on their planet.

-

Ignorance and confusion remain society’s predators main source of public access.

It is facing the truth that will have America know what actually is, and not the ideological conflict parade following its conceptual marching orders as if powered by darkness, but claiming to represent light.

-

The truth is: We currently put money as the denominator of worthiness to live or die.  We make up other “cause” to this reality at our own, and the nations peril.

Is The Right Always Wrong? The Real Fake Outrage Over Obama’s Death Care Bill

Commentary

I called it, this upcoming Health Care Initiative, The Death Care Bill, for today even Sarah Palin weighed in with her mighty sword. – Links Below

Provoking the public is a dangerous occupation, but one which corporate and right wing operatives seem most comfortable in fomenting.  The best cover is one of righteousness, when a common understanding of verifiable facts in context are not what one is aiming for.

Much of the allegedly grass roots organizing of recent mob scenes at public health care bill information events, is being orchestrated by the very folks who were the Republican operatives that did the mob scenes at the 2000 election in Florida.  They know the weight of the appearance of forceful “spontaneous” outrage. — At home we see ”average” people  are outraged; point made.  Worth a thousand words whether true or false.

.

Media Bias?

Truth is the last thing those manipulating emotions are interested in, for dialogue can lead to understanding, and why would those staying rich off the broken heath care system want to change that?  Follow the money; is the common wisdom most often ignored these days when visuals can be so exciting.  But look at how upset they are! Regular people are upset!

Money is pouring in to fight the public good with fear and paranoia; the lifeblood of reaction.  Naturally, the front groups call themselves public interest sounding names, and those on the conservative news circuit take the laced kool aid without question.  How dare you question their question?  Why we question you!  The argument devolving into existential Russian Roulette.

This is lost on those being emotionally provoked by the conservative news and information sources shilling for these industries; that conservatism is always anti paradigm change.  Psychological conditions of different groups in any population, can be ripe for nurturing crazy speak as impassioned comprehension of hidden truth  This sort of thing helped precipitate genocide in World War Two, but is now invoked as a wise pill of fascist prevention.  Amazing. The lack of continuity and coherence that emotion can shape ones intention into, and the targets the cognitive dissonance gets aimed at in answers name, requires no response to get to sleep at night an wake in the morning.  It’s not my problem!

In that sense; many modern conservatives are against true, or real factual Democracy itself; for allowing just anyone into the cultural dialogue is inherently threatening to them.  Conservative paradigms present the only validity is to be like me; what I stand for. Economic conservatives have been having great success at shaping religious conservatism into their own mindsets: Life is not fair, so why should conservatives be made to act as if it is or should be?  Democracy, and its egalitarian premise of one vote for one person, must in some respect be defeated even while it is touted.  Free speech defeated, even while it is invoked; freedom of choice defeated even while it is claimed sacrosanct.  “Heaven is not a Democracy.”

That is both conservatism’s self satisfying loyal pride and their reality detachment strategy.  Conservatism requires both a confidence in certainty and the surety that other ideas are inherently wrong.  Facts need not be checked when I know I am already right.  But I digress.  Well.  Not really.

-

The Currency Of Ignorance

Truth, then, is no object to stand in the way of ideology.  Facts outside of ideology become seemingly detached, and under the potential domain of generalized intellectual elites, already demonized, unless bought and paid for to promote conservative conceptions of reality.  In which case they are hoisted upon flags, delivered as wisdom itself to a biased liberal intelligentsia.  See!  We have our facts too, only ours are better than yours cause they are true.

It is the conservatives detachment from verifying objective reality, that opens their Pandora’s Box of belief with its emotionally attached data stream.  An information source need then only be assumed to be one of theirs to be truthful. This is the bane of conservatism and its many ideological manifestations in politics and religion; authority need not be accurate to fact, but assumed loyal to identity. Once truth is subjugated, all manner of ill can be conceived in the name of fighting evil.  And so, in the name of goodness and right, followers come to do the bidding of their masters behind the curtains.

-

The light of knowledge is a constant threat to conservative ideological mind control, and yet much conservatism motivates its followers in the name of that very light.  But since all things are effectively One on so many levels, we all will pay the price of their own self deception.  Those who profit off of manipulating human nature with fear, have us pay their price as well.  As surely as if they were polluting the air or water we need to survive.

The only answer that can work for the conservative conundrum, is knowing the love of connection to all things.  And yet this very release is most often denied or rendered supremely conditional by ideological prejudice.  Human beings held in these traps are looking subconsciously for ways out, unfortunately, that way is usually presented as getting rid of all those other alien beliefs filling the world with their problems.

These, I admit, are my opinions and not Gospel truths.  I am not provoking conflict, but suggesting means of understanding.  I believe there are some open minded and hearted conservatives, but they seem to be perpetually drowned out by all the whining about liberalism going on in so much of the media.  The money is not on their side.

-

Why does liberalism so disturb the conservative mind frame? : Inherent flexibility and adjustments to the evidence of reality based upon rational reason.  This means in some respects, what may be deemed the current most reasonable theory of interpretation of environments.  These will likely seem, or be seen as an anathema to conservative beliefs.  They do not believe they are following theory, but full Truth.  That this is ultimately their opinion, is not acknowledged, but often denied.

As Bertrand Russell put it;

“The essence of the Liberal outlook lies not in what opinions are held, but in how they are held: instead of being held dogmatically, they are held tentatively, and with a consciousness that new evidence may at any moment lead to their abandonment.”

TRAVAILS OF A TROUBLED TOOTH

This post is for the 6.? billion of you keeping track of my latest tooth tale.

One particular molar sent me to the dentist two years ago. It needed a root canal. That pushed my raft down the canals of Venice without a map.

OK, not Venice, but it did take me on a two year, 1,500+mile journey through modern American dentistry.

First, it ended up taking about 1.5 years to finally get the root canal. Various; the x-ray does not show the problem. Me; but I have the x-ray from the first dentist who found the bad root on the second photo. Its a root in the back. She took a side photo of it and found it. I told the dentist and or assistant this about 8 times. The usual antibiotics. Thousands of dollars later, with everything else done to my mouth that I could afford, then finally the root canal.  Now so obvious since the other two front roots were abscessed and easy pickings by the ray gun. But wait!

Well. The dentist blew out the side of the tooth and gave up on the root canal. Months later I get re scheduled, then finally had the root canal done. He learned to take an x-ray after doing each root, leaving a metal wire in it to show up on the photo. It was cool to be able to open my mouth and see the light coming out after 12 x-rays. (kidding about the light)

So far this tooth has taken 9 whole days out of my life. Now. Well last Tuesday, I had to get up at 3:30 in the morning to take the 150 mile trip to the dentist to get the cap taken out (2hrs) that ended up being declared bad one minute after being installed. Seems it had a hole in it, which apparently the dentist did not notice until too late.

So I had the permanent cap scheduled for impermanence 60 seconds after installation. There goes more days; and now. Soon. Coming to a mouth very near to me. Another permanent cap. My. How dentistry has improved over the ages. This tooth can tell you, I’m tellen’ ya. Now this tooth’s two year journey down the various canals and back-washes of dental history will come ashore. Once more I will be able to bite into an apple! Well, no. I cannot just bite into apples without worrying of something breaking, but that has been true for 45 years.

And that is how I am lead around by the tooth. Tooth #18 over and out.

Did you know Venice Italy recently had flooding? I know!

Let’s go flossing.

More Root Canal

Whoopee! Another 2 hours for the same tooth. I may well end up spending an 8 hour day on this one tooth. No. This dentist person does not use laughing gas.

Now for the root canal viewers good news.

I have had a colonoscopy done without pain medication, which was not nice, but not at all as bad as some tooth work.

Then I recently had a video done of my bladder. They do not do pain medication on that one, but for me, it was quite painful, especially since the issue ends up being exactly where the video camera goes. Unfortunately for me, it only gets worse.

The rest of the day and night into the next day was an exercise in ripping a long cut open every time I had to use the bathroom. It is never nice expelling blood while you watch either. That ended up being almost worse than even old fashioned root canals were. Makes me wonder why I was given only this nothing to it warning that there would be a little brief pain. The urologist happened to have a student learning the ropes there. That prolonged the event much longer than it otherwise would have been, as he took a descriptive trip through my interior domains.

So. All you facing a root canal, it is nothing these days compared to some procedures. Even the Novocain injections are not the trial they once were, since they likely will give you some topical numbing first.

Root Canals? They are a piece of cake!

Wait.

Forget the cake.

It will only move you more near to your next tooth mining extravaganza.

DENTIST TRIPPING

THE COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT WHINING ROOM  Brush before entering.

My old filling gone bad tooth gone abscessed gone missing hiding root, has gone into the next stage of decisions.

I went to my budget dentist service yesterday to find out what my options were, since my last visit there 2 weeks ago did not fix things.  Then they were performing a root canal on a molar with three roots, but one of which was in back of the other two, but they were incapable of x-raying it and I’ll never know why.   I know it is there from another x-ray, when I went in to a regular dentist for a severe toothache. They got the shot of the problem on the second try, since the front two roots were not abscessed then.  Had to be somewhere right. It amazed me that after a dozen mentions of this third root, these people with their x-ray device are incapable of finding it.

And may I mention, the budget dentist is still much more costly than regular dentist were just ten years ago.  I wonder where all the excess money is going?  Does not seem to be in the hands of the workers there.

Anyways.

Since they were probing on my word (actually said that) of another root 2 weeks ago, they blew through the tooth, knocking a side off looking for my alleged other canals, that tooth actually has at least 5 presumably.  Two hours and a gallon of Novocain later, they called it quits.  Better luck next time.  Only next time is apparently going to cost me a whole lot more somewhere else.

I took the 130 mile trip to this dentist yesterday, since they (two certain people) did not return my calls.  Yesterday I found out the person (now one?) has gone on vacation and left nothing in my chart regarding the arrangements they were to have made to a real orthodontist who knows how to find all root canals, even in a crooked tooth!  Never mind that on the bench there they had the x-ray staring all of us in the face, and should have known the tooth was tilted before a side was pooped out fishing for that elusive third root that was obviously to the right, and not to the left of the two canals found on the left root.  I go on and on about some “professional” work, when I think I actually understand more about what they should be doing than they do.

This will probably end up with the cheaper solution of just pulling the tooth and leaving another gap, cause in America if you do not have the dough you end up with nothing, as God intended.  When I was a kid I had four molars pulled at once in all four quarters in the “same” location.  Most all of my molars have fillings that in time go bad, as from my experience with this particular tooth.  Over ten years of telling at least 5 dentist that I felt something was going wrong with it, left me with no care until it in effect demanded attention that seems to have come too late.

A guy was in the office while I was there.  Maybe a farmer or rancher 10 or so years older.  He was there to nix his two root canals and tooth caps to come and instead have all of his teeth pulled.  He and his wife came to this decision over cost. I am beginning to see why older people decide to both save money, lots of it, and deal with the dentures until death.

Here is the actual evidence of another disappointing trip to the dentist.  They had some metal contraption in my mouth, so some things in the photo might be added.  At the photo’s top, the center tooth on the left side has a strange broken looking area, a shady shft goes down below it over a third of the tooth. That was the oops. It was all dark where the tooth broke out, but here some temporary filling is there (still) not showing the bust out as prominent as it was without that in there.

I have lived most of my life being very careful while eating apples or anything hard.  I have brushed and flossed my entire adult life.  My deceased oldest sister never had tooth issues or fillings throughout her 40 years.

Who say’s people do not put their private whiny problems on the WEB for all the world to see ?

I do.  All the world will not see this.

Chew on…

ROOTING FOR CANALS

Mouthing off.

Today I went in for my root canal for a molar that went bad nearly two years ago. This was a molar like any of mine, filled to the max with amalgam over the years since it grew in.

Up to today, the story of the tooth was a technological one. It has three roots, one behind the obvious two. The local dentist found that when I went in for a severe toothache two years ago. She finally took a side x ray and found the abscess. I got antibiotics. I even drag the photo to other dentist, but get a look like; What?

She could not do a root canal, so I had to find somewhere that could. Well the new dentist had x rays taken and said there is nothing wrong with it. There is no third root he informs me. I told him you have to take a shot of it from the side to see what is being blocked in the back. Well, they neve did. Many times on subsequent trips I mention the side angle needed for that issue. So here I am with proof later, later being that the other two roots went bad with abscesses and bone loss. Now the x rays say the tooth definitely needs root canals, so today I went in.

Lots of Novocain was given. It ends up this dentist does not use nitrous oxide, anyway, my face is still somewhat numb as I type 8 hours later, but the tooth? Well it still needs those root canals. He found two canals in one root but in searching for that missing root, that they are unable apparently to take a side view of, he blew through the tooth and busted out a side underneath. The tooth is slanted from extractions of molars in my childhood (a four at one time special). It seems that while working he kinda forgot that slanted part. Over two hours with various stuff and drilling going on and now I have a more broken tooth temporarily filled, with none of the root canals done.

I did get to have the assistant read the instructions on the last mix of filler they had. They were trying to figure out how to mix it properly since a couple previous experiments went wrong but are in me anyway. During some drilling and suctioning, the assistant notices a friend and calls out to her that she wants to try some of those new diet pills. Shortly after she turns the music that was on to some lovely rap-hip hop.

I was given a prescription for antibiotics and pain killer if I wanted them, and sent on my merry way. I did thank them for doing this kind of work that is so important to many of us. They apologised for the outcome. Heck. I’m used to it.

The Old Tooth Troubles

I’m in-between antibiotic spells on my next old filling to go bad. I could not afford to have it dealt with a couple years ago, but eventually it has to be undone one way or another.

I have had several molars pulled in my youth which never were replaced in any way. Gradually, the other teeth migrated to kinda fill in the voids, allowing my “wisdom teeth” to come in without being cramped, or so I imagine. I had dental insurance at one job I was at, but heard what a ridiculously long wait it was to get an appointment, so I will never know what could have been done then.

To inform you; although my long dead oldest sister never had any tooth issues, I grew up with many unattended cavities and eventually missing teeth through my teenage years. I mention that since you are often told it is genetics. I have heard that the first born tends to have better teeth due to better availability of calcium and such in the mother, so that does not elude genetics either.

In much of my life, I just took what happened and lived with it, years of toothaches, unattended broken finger, etc. One was never to complain or bring up costly issues. And though I should have been “made” to brush my teeth as a child, I was not. We were just supposed to be always perfect. If one is perfect, what then can be the problem? It sounds crazy to some of you I am sure, but this is the self destructive mindsets some of us are raised into. After I was 16, both of my parents were dead, and I was left with an even more dysfunctional “guardian” who pretty much was my prison guard.

Anyways. Two weeks to the next root canal, and then I am getting a cap on that tooth. The World War Two guy I occasionally see on a hospice visit might have it right. He had all of his teeth pulled and a sculptor who lived in the neighborhood made him a realistic set of false teeth. None of that ridiculous perfect white vanity plastic mouth for him. The sculptor made a very organic set (30 years ago) that you would have never guessed were false. He feels all those costly problems like I have are permanently off of his radar.

My whole life, (except when they were past the point of no return, and may I add, sometimes too abscessed to allow the Novocain to penetrate), they have told me the object was to save your teeth. Around 1970, I had a rich uncle Sam who died, and left me 1,300. dollars, my only ever inheritance of assets, which I then used to have my teeth fixed as much as that would afford. After that, I always brushed twice a day and flossed daily as well when that came around. I often go many years without a cavity, except where old root canals and fillings go bad and I end up with infections I cannot see until they show up on the pain scale. Unfortunately, root canal teeth are “dead” and it takes an X-ray or a large enough abscess to get noticed. What fun.

I resign myself to going to dentist, and with that surface anesthetic they give before the shots, dentistry had gotten less painless. But these days they are seemingly so rushed, that my last cleaning was one of my most painful. I mentioned it to the person doing the cleaning and they acted like; suck it up. They never inquired how I was feeling, which I have noticed is another feature at some of these low budget dental centers. So next time I will say; just give me Novocain in advance. So there. I had one root canal with nitrous oxide, I am going to ask for it as well this time. I am too accustomed to paying intense attention during dental procedures due to my often youthful extreme pain experiences.

Those of you waiting for your golden years to have it easy. Uh. For many of us, we were never told of the rope burns you get sliding down that rainbow into the pot of gold. Only to find you are no longer strong enough to lift the gold out, but a little might get left in your teeth when you fall face first into the treasure. Remember to floss.

WHEN LIFE RETURNS FROM THE DEAD

I took part in a domestic violence group meeting yesterday, where we try to help someone put into the court system over family violence issues.

Well, we all ended up crying on that day over the lost parts of our lives. In this case siblings who died young, yet had a special impact on our lives. Generalizing; most of us have not adequately mourned our losses, nor fully honored what we have been given. There are always lessons given by Life.

For the violence applicant, he had his brother die on the same week he lost his job and had his car repossessed. This had him react by falling into a three week depression. He stayed in bed sleeping most all the time. His kids and wife would come up to him wondering both what was going on and when he would be over it with the family finances in ruin. He also has past serious drug use and mental issues connected to that.

The person in charge of that meeting mentioned how her life had been in tatters and how she had learned to never think things cannot get worse than they seem to be. Since her experience is; it will get worse just when one feels put upon all one can be.

(We later talked a bit about mothering and nurturing with Mothers Day being the next day and two mothers at the meeting. I talked of not remembering my mother when I was 13; who she was, what she was like. But I did remember when I was 8 or so how mad she had become when we 4 kids did nothing for her on Mothers Day. How painful it was to feel you have somehow hurt your own mother so deeply without knowing it.)

I told my story of living in my truck, parents dead since I was a kid, fathers suicide, dead sisters masochism, I living with toothaches and missing teeth during puberty, no one ever seeming to care at all about me so much of my life, etc.

Then 25 years ago there was a day of epiphany when living in my truck in a town with nearly 50% unemployment, abandoned homes and businesses. I was broke, no job or home, soon to be no gas. One night I looked outward with all this resentment and feeling of abandonment. I looked up into the night sky and surrendered.

I declared all my ambitions for love and belonging were over. I was clean to whatever Life would have me do. I was now Its servant. Need to say; my life changed dramatically from that point on.

No longer a unwavering victim of circumstances, the world seemed new to me. Next thing I knew I was working for a “New Age” kind of church which nearly matched my philosophy/cosmology. Became a farm manager and speaker for the group at times. Had women competing over me!

I am a much more restored person now. I am not perfect in the sense of having no problems. But since that surrendering moment, I have had much more of a life than I thought I ever would.

The most important thing I know is to come to know what Unconditional Universal Love is. How It is beyond our abilities to fully grasp and yet how it is up to my actions to live nearer to It each day.

A life of loss and longing can be transformed into one of service to a value that is Greater, yet a part of us all. No matter how bad things get for me, I know, I need just stand up to see over the mountain top.
