the mistaken faces of me

What do Dean Martin (who?) Burt Lancaster, “Eddies father”, Clint Eastwood, Christopher Reeve, Fabio, Jesus Christ, and “Hey, you Antonio Banderas”, Ted Turner, and Sean Connery have in common with me?

Maybe if you read my blog you would know, cause this is not the time or spot for me to tell you.

What a smarty pants this guy is!

What is a smart pants by the way?

Just asking.

(On my pages I have photos of me, some manipulated.  Can not say you would see me as any of the aforementioned characters.  Dean Martin and Burt Lancaster, were who reminded my fathers sister of being a lot like him.)

POTERY POETRY SMOETRY

Growing up I did not know

And from hearing hip-hop

the same would be oh so

but poetry need not be

rhyme and time

and this word-

maybe

You can be free

saw the see saw into dust

shake formulas from your mind

stop thinking that in a rhyme

there is something special

about your life and mind

by making the numbers fit

NO!

you can free your minds reach

find a word your heart yearns for

not some formula that binds you

down under on a slave ship crew

rowing to one subscriptions beat

makes one in union bittersweet

mathematical mechanical bull

a word drilled within wheels

and sound spiked deals appeal

within these numbers game

noise that types out same

it was the mnemonics

rhyme is so, well

memorable

links the mind to sound

the enticement of finding pattern

within sound that is found everywhere

it is a calling to be heard in an echo word

words can transcend these reflecting things

bring raw connection of vowel and consonant

meanings mixed and merged in primal soup

making word energies boiling in you

turn into an awakening light

beam into someone else

like never before, or

but chains must be broken

not fearing rhyme as a token

free to be as you are spoken

the real you strong and true

in free voice or free verse

sing song along dong

can make great music

but sometimes singing

is not where the heart is at

you just saw a mountain top

lost a greatest love

free words

like your soul

may not be playing games

you might be raw and freshly bit

a poem as a flag planted on feeling

a bandage coming to a wound

a prayer to an Almighty

all of it there

the love

the losses

a most common day

full of future emerging

perfect things converging

only you can say your way

let the words fly high

and far away.

.

BACK FROM THE HOSPITAL

Less than two hours ago was my colonoscopy. After a missed poke in each hand they got a nurse to get the intravenous line in. I had to have some antibiotics for a heart murmur. It was initially there for administering an anesthetic which I know I never received, even though differing ones there I presented this issue to said I did (I think they figure I must have it to be wheeled into the procedure, a ten minute one at that) nearly four hours after getting there.

Right off the bat, at the first missed try in the hand, the anesthetic filled syringe was left on that table. I monitored what was dripping into the line, it was the antibiotic and then a saline solution. When I told a guy I never got the pain killer, he looked around trying to discover where it would have been. He seemed perplexed when he said it would have been near the hand entry connector with a blue cap on it. No one ever put anything there.

I mention all this because my friend, who was there to drive me back, because the anesthesia was to have left one too incompetent to drive, has had two colonoscopies, where I was the driver, and she seemed definitely drugged and slow. She said it creates an amnesia that has you forget the time before and after the procedure. Well if I was so treated I don’t believe I would be typing away right now. I went out to feed and play with the dog. Am feeling exactly like I had before and after the procedure, exactly the same, well almost. A bit hungry after not having much of anything for a day and a half.

Now if there is anyone out there wondering what a colonoscopy is about they are prescribed for many reasons; family colon cancer history and any number of issues that point to the colon as a source of something, an unidentified colon issue can appear no matter your age or sex.

So here is the good news for anyone out there facing a colonoscopy; the worst part is the gallon of liquid you have to drink the day before, it’s bland, cold and a gallon in 4-6 hours is a lot of drinking of something you would not normally drink for fun, that and not eating, but I have had much longer unintentional fast. Now for me no immediate medical procedures were needed that showed up on screen that requires cutting, so I cannot attest to having no anaesthesia and having more than just the photo trip. Good news–you probably had more pain at the dentist, or stubbing your toe. In fact, if I need one in the future I might ask to skip the anaesthetic just so I don’t lose a day to a groggy disability.

I experienced inept tourniquets to reveal veins which often bulge out like ropes on me, tying a strip in a knot while pulling much arm hair out, that hurt some. The two missed tries left me with burning spots on the back of my hands throughout the procedure, while the successful one was hardly bothersome. All they would need to do is have a little throw away clip to keep the big thrown away rubber-band on it after wrapping it tight, or wrap it and tuck the end under. The first try was hardly doing any squeezing, just a bunch of hair pulled out. Even the old blood pressure Velcro strap would have been better.

So what have I learned? Colonoscopy is a relatively painless procedure without anesthetic. There is much scattered incompetence running around hospitals; it’s getting scary in there. Keep an eye on them and what they are doing.

I just found out from the drug store that the prescription the Doc. gave me is no longer what is done for this issue! I’m just telling you!

I’m supposed to be all tired and subdued now so I better start acting that way and quit dwelling in the past; cause now I get to eat what I want again!

From the end of the nation and the end of the colon files.
